We have been able to gain access to two actual original props.
The one pictured
below (on the left) was one of Terry Nation’s own personal Daleks.
One of the props (pictured below during the paint stripping down process) belongs
to Mick Hall who has one of the most comprehensive Doctor Who memorabilia collections
known to man. Mick has been kind enough to allow us access to his original prop
in order to get the most accurate reproduction available yet. Please note that
our Movie Dalek is an officially licensed product.
This is the first time ever that
this has been licensed.
The Dalek was originally black but has been repainted over the years, Mick is in the process of restoring the original colour underneath the many layers. The dome lights and eye shown below are not original.
Another reference we have used is shown in the photo above.
This is the Sugar Puffs promotional prize in the competition that so many of us entered
and didn’t win.
This one resided in the Midlands from 1966 to the early 90s. It was
then sold at Bonhams and changed hands a number of times following that.
It is now
in retirement in North London.
This was originally silver and blue but repainted by the winners father as red was his favourite colour.
This came into the possession of one of our staff from 1979 to 1981.
During this time
it made an appearance on a children’s schools programme called Walrus (BBC Schools
Bristol) sporting a Dalek Supreme colour scheme (The Chase). All of the BBC props
at the time were in use and so this one was used.
