Yes I am a real 'Who' buff! You know! One of those people who knows what each and every unit was used for and which episode and what parts were changed etc,. etc. I suppose you could say a bit of a Dalek expert!! (:
Being the very proud owner of the late 80's Remembrance Supreme (Black and Silver) and Renegade (Light Grey and Black) Daleks from This Planet Earth I pondered for weeks on which one would be the greatest next addition to my collection.
My personal favorite Dalek Adventure has always been with Tom Baker's first encounter with them in The Genesis Of The Daleks. I always seemed to find those ones in particular the most visually menacing, sleek and frightening. That was it then! Decided! I placed my order, made my payment and was assured a true 'Genesis' Dalek as real as day as if it had been plucked right off the 1975 Genesis location set. Having experienced their attention to detail and painstaking work in my previous acquisitions I then began the hard part. THE WAIT! (;
When a few months later I received word that it was ready, complete & being photographed the next day and that I would receive photos that day I could hardly sleep. I checked my email and as I loaded the first picture I closed my eyes and opened them to stare at a 101% perfect in every single solitary detail Genesis Of The Daleks' Dalek. I OWNED a perfectly replicated 1970's Genesis Dalek and here it was in front of me! Adrenalin pumped through me like hot bubbling coffee through a cappucino machine. I was silent for over an hour as I stared at the screen in awe. I found myself locking the door and removing the telephone jack. Then back to the Dalek. Oh Wow!
The Dalek has a very sinister and life like presence and is to all who have seen it 'eerily real' and gives the exact uneasy feeling required. I am ecstatic (in case you hadn’ t guessed!). My latest next addition is a full size Tardis so I can escape the wife's solicitor when she divorces me for spending all our money!! (:
I have to say though that Mr Clarke is a true unadulterated 'dream maker' ! He has made many a childhood to teenager to adult dream of owning beautiful pieces of Cult Sci Fi history come true. Thanks go to ‘this planet earth’ for building it...soooo well.
