GRP TARDIS General Durability:

Out of the past and into your future

The GRP Full Size TARDIS is m a n u f a c t u r e d to be strong and is primed with several coats of paint. It is possible during winter months that internal condensation may occur as would be expected of any outdoor structure. The durability is dependent on location and many other external variables over which we have no control. We therefore cannot realistically give any durability or absolute waterproof guarantee. The painted finish will need ‘touching up’ every few years as it is exposed to UV light and the rigours of the elements as all exterior based items are. Wooden TARDIS General Durability: Callers sometimes ask if the Full Size TARDIS is weatherproofed to be placed outdoors. The TARDIS is m a n u f a c t u r e d to be structurally strong and is primed and coated with several coats of paint. It is possible during winter months that internal condensation may occur as would be expected of any outdoor structure. As weather conditions become more extreme from exceptionally hot summers to wet and cold winter frosts it is likely that there will be some slight wood joins movement and that maintenance would be required as wood is organic and shrinks and swells very slightly with temperature changes. The durability is dependent on location and many other external variables over which we have no control. We therefore cannot realistically give any durability or absolute waterproof guarantee. If customers wish to put the wooden TARDIS outdoors we recommend that the customer could consider an outdoor varnish coat which would need replenishing every year or two. We can advise and recommend which treatments to use. Planning note: Although a number of customers have installed TARDISes in their gardens without problems it is always worth checking whether planning permission is required or if neighbours may object as we cannot refund once the TARDIS has been made to order. Planning requirements vary from area to area and it is not possible for us to know if permission is needed for individual locations. The TARDIS is supplied on the understanding that you undertake the r e s p o n s i b i l i t y to ensure that the installation is within your Local Council guidelines Preparation: We require a flat area to put the TARDIS on. This can be concrete or paving stones. Miscellaneous: All of the dimensions are approximate. If the size is crucial please contact us before ordering. Keep in mind that the panels etc will need to be carried around corners or up stairs to get to the desired location. It is important that you consider that it will physically negotiate the obstacles to get it to where you want to locate it. The TARDIS is supplied as a roof, base, four panels, doors and non-functional light housing. If you are in doubt about anything, just ask. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

The TARDIS is a full size screen accurate replica of one of the most iconic symbols of Doctor Who. It is the vehicle that transports the Doctor through dimensions, space and Time. We have lovingly recreated this with an attention to detail that is second to none. Each variant has been researched to an almost obsessive degree and built with a passion. The result is the most stunning reproduction of a prop that you can actually own and treasure. We have two basic construction methods for the TARDIS. Firstly, the original wooden construction which is a replica of the actual prop incorporating the weathered texture and original worn look. The wooden TARDIS (all variations except the latest Jodie Whittaker style) are constructed in pressure treated timber and painted with exterior paint. These are recommended for indoor use or will need a varnish coating optionally applied periodically by the customer.

Over the last 15 years we have been asked countless times if we will produce a GRP version of the TARDIS in the same way that we produced our first generic TARDIS 20 years ago. Following many months of moulding and fine tuning we are pleased to announce that we are manufacturing the latest Jodie Whittaker style in GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) a material made from a polyester resin, which is reinforced by chopped strand mat glass fibres to form a rigid GRP laminate. It is a very popular composite material to use because it is very strong and also relatively light. The wood grain and surface texture have been retained on the GRP Jodie Whittaker TARDIS. It is a stunning example of the attention to detail, accuracy and extensive research we have invested into this version which is suitable for outdoor use.

4. Pay a 50% deposit when you decide to order. Build time is 10 to 12 weeks.

5. Then wait. Look forward to it. We will contact you two weeks before delivery to arrange a date. The 50% balance is due at this point.
